The tournament had kind of a weird format, almost like a shootout. We played for an hour and the top two chip leaders at each table moved on the second round. I moved on without having to do a whole lot. They raffled off a few additional seats for people who didn't make the cut. We started with just over a 100 people, and were down to 35 or 40 for the second round which played out the same as the first. Round three got us down to about 24 people and then we played to the final table. At the final table there was another hour long cap to see who would have the most chips at the end of the night. I had a pretty big stack at that point so I just stayed out of trouble and watched everyone else to make sure I kept the lead. I was surprised at how conservative people were and not doing whatever they could to get more chips. Second prize was a $1,000 gift certificate to the gym and then it went down to I think a $200 gift certificate for 8th place, so the real prize was 1st place.
Anyhow, it was pretty fun, they even handed me a trophy at the end. Can't wait to go to Vegas, my parents are coming out to watch the kids while Sarah and I go.
